Rod Davis 5241 NE 19th Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308
Rod Davis was born in Norfolk sometime after the middle of the last century. He earned his degree from the University of Virginia twenty-one years later. He began taking pictures at the age of six when his parents handed him a Brownie 127 and told him to go outside and shoot something. Photography has remained a lifelong passion.
Rod studied photography at Cooper Union and learned his craft by approaching people on the street with a smile and with a line he borrowed from a 1979 song by The Speedies, "Let me take your photo." He is always pleasantly surprised when that works, and he believes the results speak for themselves.
He is published in Slovenka Magazine, Nursing Spectrum Magazine, NYU Medical Center's Conversations in Medicine, and has several books in print, including Los Perros del Peru and Weddings. His work has appeared in publications for New York-Presbyterian Hospital and his photographs are displayed throughout the hospital's Cornell campus.
Rod currently resides in Fort Lauderdale with his partner Barry and their dog Scotty. He thanks both of them profoundly for their love, patience and support, and not inconsequentially for their willingness to pose for him. All three of them mourn the recent passing of their beloved cat, Edie.
